Why are your classes so affordable?
Why not? I (Jagger Kaye) am a blue-collar lower-middle class guy from Hell’s Kitchen NYC … I understand actors budgets & refuse to purge them.
How many students per class & how long?
Classes vary from 8-16. Classes are usual 3hrs with intensives and workshops 3-5hrs depending on the subject. Plenty of time to work and get the ultimate "bang for your buck"
Who are your students?
16-70+ years of age. I have had working actors, beginners, playboy models, stand-up comedians (both touring & local), models, retirees, and grandparents. Anybody that wants to work hard while having fun and respect the art is welcome!
What is your admission policy?
We do not allow audits because I think it disrupts a class. The only people in the room should be those that pay. I do meet & read my students in advance for on-going classes. I have no issue giving 15-20 minutes of my time to meet a potential student & discuss the variety of classes offered & make sure it’s a fit. All my classes are for a designated amount of time (1 day a week for anywhere from 2-5 weeks) and everyone commits to those classes. I do not allow walk-ins or” pay as you show” because there is no discipline and stability in that. Actor’s biggest obstacle is discipline and stability & I teach responsibility as well!
What is your refund policy?
There are no refunds (unless a class is canceled on our end), but we do offer credits if you cancel enough time in advance. On-going classes is usually a 5 day window, with one-day classes/events 2-3 days. Inquire for any class you are interested in but usually the above are the norm (although some classes vary)
Any closing comments or advice?
Learn from your mistakes – that is both an acting lesson & life-lesson. I rather you make mistakes in front of me & learn from them, then in front of an agent or casting director.
I also insist you have “fun”, if you do not have fun why pick this industry? It’s hard enough without enjoying yourself and the process.
