1. I saw you are doing an event with Jagger & http://www.CASTINGSnCLASSES.com, how did that come about?
I have known Jagger for years, but recently reconnected through Steven Carr (Director - Paul Blart: Mall Cop, Daddy Day Care, Dr. Doolittle 2 & others). Steven was really impressed with Jagger after doing his 5th Anniversary Event - www.cnc-5thanniversary.com and recommended I do it too. (After Jagger was kind enough to invite me, of course).

2. How did you become involved with Steven Spielberg?
I was one of the directors hand-picked by Spielberg from a world-wide search of over 12,000 directors for his US TV series “On The Lot,“ for FOX TV, produced by him and Mark Burnett. Spielberg has always been known to be very supportive of new filmmakers and I can say first hand that it is very true. As a result of the show, we were all given first look deals with Dreamworks.  It was a great experience and an honor to be part of it.

3. You have done a lot of critically acclaimed indie work, do you have bigger budget feature aspirations?
Yes. I have written several features and am currently in the process making two of them; a drama to filmed in NY and a comedy. I am also fortunate to be working again with Steven Carr, who was the executive producer on my film “Joseph Henry.”

4. Your bio said you began as a musician and were a recording artist, how and why did you make that transformation?
I was always interested in film and I guess I just became tired of it. It’s no secret that the music industry as a whole is suffering, and after 10 years of being signed to two different major labels I had front row seats to the crash, so to speak.  The treatment of the artists became increasingly worse and I just felt it was time for a change.  I then worked as a designer and developer of internet media and eventually animation. Animation was very time consuming so I decided to shoot one of my script as a film instead and made, “Delivered,” which won at a few festivals and eventually led me to paid work.

5. Who are your biggest influences as far as direction goes?
Woody Allen, Stanley Kubrick, Paul Thomas Anderson, Martin Scorsese, Lars von Trier

Thank you Phil & we look forward to your first CnC Event on July 6th - Jagger Kaye
